At Custer’s Soap’s I specialize in handcrafted soaps, bath bombs, perfume and lotions. Everything I sell is made from scratch, using some of the highest quality ingredients available. I start with the finest food grade oils like Olive, Grape seed, Walnut, Almond, Coconut & Shea butter. I then add to them even more healthy ingredients like herbs, micas, and oxides for coloring, and plant essential oils and specially formulated soap fragrance oils for scent. What I end up with are pure simple handmade soaps. I believe they are among the finest soaps available anywhere at any price. Why is that important? One of the benefits of Handmade soap is that is still contains glycerin, a natural humectant, that is a product of the chemical reaction between lye and oils in soap making. Most commercial soaps do not contain natural glycerin, as it has been extracted and sold for other purposes.
Why is there sodium hydroxide in my soap?
Sodium hydroxide (lye) is necessary to make soap. The sodium hydroxide reacts with the oils, producing soap and glycerin. This is called saponification. When the saponification is complete, no sodium hydroxide remains in the soap. In other words no Lye no soap.
